Testimonies

This is an extract from a mail I had written to my friends and I wish that most of you my readers would get this message too. I want to tell you about a few testimonies that changed my perception of testimonies. Most of you may have heard me say this many times, but then since its that good, I wish your Christmas memories could include this one too.  The first story occurs in a little village of pullad. Now that is in Kerala, and for those who do not know where it is, the place is near kumbanad, and around 15 Kms from Chengannur/ Thiruvalla and some where in the mid point between ernakulam and trivandrum .  SEE IT ON MAP I HAD WRITTEN THE STORY IN A BETTER FORMAT OVER AN YEAR AGO. SEE TOTALLY SIMPLE FAITH.  It is a village more than a town , with rubber trees, bugs and the sweet sound of rain in the woody and leafy region, so it cooler and humid than most other parts of kerala. So, i was here, in a prayer meeting run by a pentecostal group called the hallelujah pra...

The change in the desert

http://www.fotopedia.com/items/flickr-5079756828 Bible Passage 1: Hosea 2 : 14 a Today I would like to talk about the way God works from my life experience and also from the Bible. The context is rather spread out in the Bible and therefore we would look into multiple passages. It starts in one desert and ends in another garden. In the story of Hosea, we have Lo-Ammi (Not my people) and Lo-Rummani (Not loved) the children of the prostitute wife of Hosea being asked to talk to their mother. The situation in his house has come so worse that the children have to intervene in their mother’s life. But does this story have more to do with faith than just a broken marriage? I would share my thoughts about some key elements that stand out in this chapter and relate to my life and the Christian walk. The first thing that is done here is that there is a thirst given in the life of Israel to seek the Lord and this is where we understand that just because we are interested in Christi...

What is next - tummy tuck for 5 year old ?

I travel almost all days on the London metro and ever since I started paying attention to the news papers I have been curious of what is mentioned in them. I recently read some disturbing news on the "metro" paper and have been thinking about them. This is first of the series. I call this "Image". Recently, it was shown according to the Metro News Paper [1] that over  343 labiaplasties were performed on minors, some as young as 14 and 9 year olds. The  shocking  fact is not that these girls who this was done needed them, but they wanted them. Reports cite that most of these girls did have healthy body parts but still were looking for a reason to change what they have to what they see. This is called as designer v***na or in some cases "po*n-star-chic" look. Don't you see what is happening here? Why and How to share the gospel

This is a small note on how to and why share the Gospel. Please be free to comment and add more details. STORY Imagine someone discovered the cure for cancer, and all they did was run into the cancer care ward and dance around. Someone may come and ask him why was he so joyful, but mostly people would be irritated that he was happy in a ward filled with people worried with life. Now what if he went only telling people but did not show the cure in his life or the evidence of the cure? a gospel only in action lacks intelligibility and a message without action lacks credibility - @ krish kandiah Scriptures: (WHY) 1. Matthew 26: 19 ,. John 1: 40 -42, Matthew 24:14, EPh 2: 4-5, Rom 5:8 2. People are watching your lives, so be an example 3. How did you get the gospel?  Romans 10:14 4. What is the gospel? 5. one day

one day i may die. so as you. some may live till a ripe old age, other be killed at an young age, some may be caught in the rapture, others will be persecuted in the tribulations. But being a Christian, one thing is certain, that there is one day when our mortal body will be transformed to an immortal one. From that day on new things will happen. You will feel alive and be awake. You will not grow tired nor hunger or thirst. One such day, you may go for war against the accuser - the Satan. On that day you will see the death paying its debt. You may partake in the victory celebrations in the galaxy that day and the days to come. Then may be one day, days and night may cease to exist and time would be timeless. From then on you will live in the presence of the almighty. As you live there, you will see the Father, God of all. You will worship Him because he is there. You will see and know the Holy Spirit and realise that the Father is not the spirit, and the Spirit not the Father. ...

Fresh!

Krish Kandiah, an amazing speaker has written this wonderful book on facing faith at places of higher education like the university. I had just gifted this to a friend of mine and am still waiting for him to tell me how it is. I went through this book and found out that Krish writes this book in a very simple manner, with a lot of anecdotes. Fortunately, the book is not too pricey. You could get this from Amazon. I have esteemed and treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food

I have esteemed and treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food. - Job 23:12 As David sat on his throne, he often thought about the God who he had known and who was responsible for holding David up through all the troubles he had with Saul and other enemies. He  said that he desired to be in the house of Adonai  [ Lord ] than else where, but this had a reason. The factors that made this reasons are many, but the reason is this. David had a heart for God. A longing, a passionate desire to love and serve the God of Israel. But the one who said the verse  "  I have esteemed and treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food "  did not have a background story that we know of like that of David's. All Job was a well off man, in the region of Mesopotamia, Ur or possibly in the modern Middle East regions of Iran, Iraq, or Israel. It would have been really cool, if Job had said this verse, at any other time, but the time Job said...

Evidence of Christ in Creation

On a recent talk with Jehovah Witness, I realised the truth Christ had been telling me. I was reading the first chapter of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as told by John, popularly known as John's Gospel. In this the very first verse says, "In the beginning  was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning." Note the fact that the Greek say "εν" and not "κατά ", which means "in" and not "at". We know for fact from English literature, if I said arrive "IN" time, it is expected that the person arrives five or ten minutes prior with time to spare. So, when God began to create, my argument is that Jesus was there. But this is more when we look into the Bible, we find John says the same words from the Hebrew book Torah, and the first part "B ereshit  ( בְּרֵאשִׁית , literally "In the beginning") -- Genesis". John plays a striking connections from this book in Torah, ...

Desert Walk

For many of us, when it comes to learning the Bible, we are faced with enough and more distractions. I had opened this page to start writing and then gone and read a lot of nonsense. Then another distraction, and then another. The best manner is to turn off your phone and try to sit down in prayer. So, here I am. Now some one had told me that the best three books to learn in the Bible , when you are new in Christ is John, Romans and Ephesians. I do not intend to say that other books are not good or equal, but only state the fact that these three books are the like a summary to the Bible. So in this school of thought, I guessed as I had posted in a VLOG earlier last month, Lord0- take me to the dessert,  I believe he had put that desire in me. Desert is the sweetest place on earth. Let me tell you why. If you lived in a city away from the desert you would always wonder when you might be lost on the desert, and if you were to live by the desert, you would always fe...

simple lives

Linta's Photography People have stories in their lives that make them want to live for another person. Stories in their past motivating them to do what the others ones did. Life is so precious that we do not realise that people around us, with us, and how much they influences us. Recently I spoke to two of my neighbours, one who recently lost his loved one and the other whose garden I was fascinated by. The gentleman, who lost his wife recently to liver cancer and old age, was telling me that he met her 55 years ago. This really inspired me and even showed me a sense of belief that love is not a one of thing, but it’s a packaged deal.  Linta's Photography My other neighbour whose garden I like a lot was telling me the other day about her husband that she had lost a couple of years ago. She was telling me his passion for gardening, how much he spared his time for the little plants and flowers on the earth. She told how lovely the man was, and that she is planting a...

Realising God

For many of us God sounds like a monstrous being, some one waiting to smite you if you do wrong. Well, yes God has been strict at many occasions but lets never forget that he is a loving father as well. God is love and care that the image of Zeus we have with thunder bolts in his arms to hurl at you. Jesus said, I call you a friend. I have your name on my arms. As I am trying to understand the grace of God, I learn more about his Holiness. As I understand his majestic nature I realise that God is not a king we know of but rather a loving father. We are then prince and princess in his kingdom. During my exam which is nearly over as I have one more to go on this Friday, I wanted to rest and feel and be filled in God presence. So I listened to a "nearer my God to thee" which is one of my favourite hymns. Normally, if you know Christian slow Hymns, aspecially Nearer my God to thee, you would expect a slow and calming effect like in the last scene of the 1997 Movie Titanic. i was...

Selah Pause and Think

I just hear Gary, the pastor of Hillsong London speak on "leaning toward" (worship) telling how we should be ready to be moved to hear the Spirit at every church service, not just the great speakers but also the new speakers. Blessed by the amazing simplicity of the message. Hope you like this message and be blessed by it. Gary Clarke says " when we come to Church we should not be just to sing some songs .... but rather to experience God inhabiting in our praise " There is a time when the tangible presence of God invades our lives. Gary adds, when some one is speaking, do not fall for the trap to expect the speaker to give an intellect university lecture on the deep truth of God because he says, when you say "that is not deep enough" , what we are doing is telling that we do not have the maturity of receiving from the Holy Spirit directly to us. Pentecost 2012

celebrating pentecost 2012 to many of us who think of Pentecost as a denomination or a church, this message is for you, for many of us who think there is no reason to be concerned about the church, this is again a message for you. this message is for christians or people who call themselves christians. if you are not a christian, let me warn you, that some things may slip your mind so be free to ask me in the comments or on twitter or personal email at smathew2237@gmail.com . [The following explains trinity : please read if you are interested : else skip below by clicking => SKIP <=] in christianity we believe in a monotheist belief like Judaism and Islam, but worship the God of Judaism not Islam. the turn down for many people is the added effect of deity issues that come with christians saying they believe in Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and blow away the concept of monotheism. so what does the christian believe ? well, we believe God,...

Life Update

Don't look for shortcuts to God. The market is flooded with surefire, easygoing formulas for a successful life that can be practiced in your spare time. Don't fall for that stuff, even though crowds of people do. The way to life—to God!—is vigorous and requires total attention. Matthew 7:13,14 I am trying to learn discipline. Keep me in prayers. Counting Blessings

Count your blessings! Be literal in counting them. I have not done them before, but I am going to do that . It should be more than sufficient to tell me that I believe in a great God and that he has a much bigger deal in my life than life itself. I am carried away by the troubles of this world that I forget that there is a better deal than is in store for me. For instance I read today in the bible about God's abundant provision for us and how he loves for us and cares for us.

Ubuntu 12.04 gets buggy with lightdm

A quick update for those using UBUNTU 12.04 Precise Pangolin. If you wake up one day and find that your computer has turned against you and you are not allowed to login, please do not worry, the end is not near and the computer have not taken over. I call it a bug, computer scientists call it a special feature called "super lock" so relax. The thing is the lightdm a software that is an extensible and resource light HTML based login manager and X-Window manager or in simple words the "place where you enter your password to login into Ubuntu" has a seriously stupid bug. lightdm crash did this to me a few days ago, precisely one day before my examinations halting any hope. But thanks be to God, i had a non password based guest login and i was able to access.

As I wait

How dearly How dearly How dearly I wish To wake up from this nightmare and embrace the dawn How dearly How dearly How dearly I hope I hope to see your smile in the dawn

Future of Internet of things

Hi everyone, Have you ever tried to teach your mum how to use word processing when you were away from her? "Mum click on the floppy like icon on the top .... no, not the red X, no, not the white page .... ", you now the drill. Haven't you wished that you could control her computer from where you are and show her this. Some years back when I worked at technical support, I have used some programs called " GoToAssist " provided by Citrix Solution. It ran on a Java based platform, and was a proprietary and paid software. Well, for those of you who want to run your own technical support, here is the thing for you.  This technology is called Virtual Network Computing. The Wikipedia article is quite informative. Also read on Remote Desktop Protocol.
