a future to think about

looking4poetry When Jacob was leaving from his uncle Laban, and yet to meet his brother Easu Bible , he grew worried. He was a very rich man, and most of it was Laban's but he did work hard and earn it, but all this he knew was not possible, if not for the blessing of God. Now, for those who know the story, Jacob took Easu's blessing and now as he was there on the verge of meeting his brother after long and tiresome 21 years or more, he feared the meeting. gaspi *yg This is how most of us sometimes view our tomorrows, not the next day,( only and only if you suddenly knew there was an important test that you did not study), but days when we face uncertainty and say things that are like, "its my fate" or "so be it" or if you were more Christian, you might say "God, i did not study the history lesson, but i know you have my best interest, so let your will be done" .... and yes, you can be sure that God is rolling on the floor of heaven

time based reality

time freeze I just watched a lot of films recently and some were based on theories that are improbable, like Christopher Nolan's Inception staring Leonardo DiCaprio and Life on Mars (not a film, but a BBC series ) by Matthew Graham, Tony Jordan and Ashley Pharoah, and today I saw Source Code by Duncan Jones staring Jake Gyllenhaal. All amazing stories, where time is defined as a virtually modifiable entity. Some portray it slightly different than the other, but eventually they tell stories of different realities and worlds that are different just by actions taken by an individual, and for those among my readers who this is thought intriguing, you should also consider reading things such as the grandfather paradox , and read and watch films like the time travellers wife and N dimension, alternate reality or parallel universe and stuff like that. I really enjoy these thought provoking and yet mind baffling ideas. investing time watching birds It is like we are wired w

Families

http://www.flickr.com/photos/brigida/ Many look at Saturday evening as a time to party and have fun. Recently on a Saturday evening i was at the upminister railway station waiting for a train to home and a rather interesting family caught my attention. There were a lady, a small girl of twelve, a boy of seven and a little girl of four or five. They ran hiding behind a coke vending machine laughing. Then the youngest one popped her head out, the mother pulled her back. Them the older girl popped her head out. Then the boy walked from behind the machine. Their action clearly indicted that they were hiding from something. This kept going for five minutes till the mother walked out and took a peak at the doors they came out from and jumped and went back into hiding with her children... Pulling them all into the safety of the vending machine. There was something about everyone in the family, the little ones were the loudest, making happy shrieks and running around in her little shoes .

His Presence Beyond Languages

Today : I was feeling a wee bit low when i thought that there would not be any blog posts in November, but I did not want to write anything and fill this space. I had been having a tough time, lots of assignments and stuff like that and I did not take time to relax and stay in the presence of God. Its is a truly life changing experience when you give into him. Running on my mind now is the song "Forever Reign" by Hillsong from Beautiful Exchange. The song goes ... "You are good, you are good, when there is nothing good in me You are love  You are love  On display for all to see You are light  You are light  When the darkness closes in You are hope  You are hope  You have covered all my sin  " www.sophieengel.com Last night was amazing, I attended a small party, a number of Christians had come together to spend some time off studies and unwind, man it feels like a great blessing now. I sat at a table and this is the table were people from alm

Heaven ... more than a tought

A few weeks ago I wrote on hope being the only thing that differentiates Christian from the world and all the religions that it offered. Be it Islam or Hinduism or any other faith, there is always an ambiguity whether your sin and shame is removed from God, or would our lives be restored to its original course we were set to travel on. Atheists and non - theists may argue that its a man's will on how he lives his life and there is nothing called as absolute morality, but deep in all of us have a sense of what is right and what is wrong and we feel convicted by ourselves if we do something wrong and feel guilt within. Heaven, is real and most of us believe and look to a new journey that we do not have to carry baggages into. Two weeks ago at the university we had a meeting amongst Christians and we discussed "Heaven". FROM: http://www.glasbergen.com So I thought I share it with you. Here are two pictures of heaven. What is wrong with the picture on the left? I coul

Magic

We are often taken by surprise at a magicians trick, the way he pulls a rabbit out of a hat or by the way he pulls a woman out of thin air or how he guesses your card... we do this mostly because we are fixed to reality and mostly his acting. But its the anti reality that makes us gape. C S. Lewis said something like this on our obsession with what we call reality to what we claim as counter reality. C.S. Lewis said our being surprised by the passage of time is akin to a fish being surprised by the wetness of water. Time is the dimension in which we live. Of course it passes. But suppose, Lewis goes on to say, the fish is destined to be a land animal. In that case, he would find the water to be very strange. And of course, the reason we find the passage of time to be strange is because we know, deep down, that we are destined for eternity. We find time as an element of surprise, I met kids recently who i had met three years ago and shocking enough i did not recognise them. Haven&#

I Thank you Lord

Life is tough, plans may fail, but yet i dare to hope when i remember this. The faithful love of the Lord never ends and his mercies would not cease. Great is his faithfulness, and every morning he pours out his abundant mercies. Lamentations 3:21-23 Lyrics : Subin Abraham Mathew When you called out my name You chose to hear me out When you woke me up You chose to give me rest I feel so awake to be in your presence     I am so glad that you called me to it Oh, how will i ever thank you for this Oh how will i ever give you enough praise I lift up my eyes to your throne I raise up my hands to touch your feet I bless this (is) the day you have made I will be even more glad that you woke me up Oh, how will i ever thank you for this Oh how will i ever give you enough praise Oh, how will i ever thank you for this Oh how will i ever give you enough praise Streams Flowing down from the hills sing it Winds chiming bells i hear the same song I seek yo

Really Messed up

Some times lief life can be really messed up. Things may not happen the way we wanted them to happen. Plans gets foiled and truth seems like a mirage. I have been through this situations many times and sometimes these situations crib us and pull us down. I have questioned God and existence of God many times and at these times I have doubted him more. The pattern changed as I grew up in the Lord and lesser did I say that there was no one for me. The truth at these times was simple. It was not God punishing me or karma or bad karma. Its just a situation that was meant to happen and my reaction in these times should have been to wait on the Lord. I guess the above phrase is little odd, and yes its a bit bewildering too. But let me site some examples so things stay clear. I pray that you get your mind clear on this. Lets start with the biggest guy on earth when we think of chain of misfortunes. ya, Job. Job, ( as in the bible ) was the richest guy around. He had a few Rolls Royce, ma

Memories

I was going through some pics that were taken around 20 years ago.  Some were really ridiculous and funny  Some  reminded of times forgotten and wanted, others gave hope. Memories are a wonderful thing. They remind us where we came from, like our troubles of the past and what became of us. Don't all of us have such wonderful memories. I am a guy, but there are times I've looked at pictures and cried. There were some pictures that remind me of things i failed to accomplish and there were pictures that I've been appreciated for my accomplishments.  Jason Upton is an American lyricist and singer. In his song "Reason" or "Give me one reason" , he sings "Abraham and Jacob never doubted God when they walked alone, but we who have more reasons to believe in God, doubt him". As far as Abraham and the nomads of his time were concerned stars were the only guide where as we have GPS and  GNSS  and what not. Yet we fail to find reasons that are simple eno

Basic Lessons - Part 4- God of Hope

Recently it occurred to me that hope is not an universal thing. Really?? Well, let me put it in this manner .... Tom wants a chocolate fudge cake for his birthday, his birthday is around 10 months away. Now if he did hope that he gets it, he is positive that he would be alive the next day, and the next and the next. So, then hope is a by-product of what he believes. This is the basis of  Christianity. Welcome to another session of ... The hope that Christians have is based on teaching that has been passed down from people who lived over 2000 years . But the best part is that there are still evidences and historical documents that support this. Well, does Christianity stop with that?? No, its more. Love is something we call "strange" and "odd". We all could understand the love a mother has to her kids, a lover to his lover , but the odd thing is the Christian's love. I agree that this is rare, but that is the thing that bound the early Church. They were one in

Basic Lessons - Part 3 - Jesus says "simple"

... continuing on the series called Basic Lessons ... Basic Lessons is an understanding of the early Church or the Church of the first century AD. There were some key things they did and they followed it gladly ... I was talking to my mentor today and telling him about the things i heard in the church about basic and real Christianity. He pointed out that Christ was really very simple to follow and his teachings were easy to keep up as long as we did not put our ideas to make Christianity a religion. We all love that, don't we? We just love to complicate things just so that we look smart or "cool" but the reality that Christians have to face today is the Churches they go to and the rituals or systems they follow is actually adulterated. 1 %  Christ to 99% Strict teaching that some people at the church felt cool about. Be it any Church, Roman Catholic, Pentecostal, Marthomite or anything for the matter. My uncle is a retired Food Inspector of the Southern Railways in Ind

Basic Lessons - Part 2 - Eating with Love

.... as in the intro of the series this thing called "basic lessons" is a culmination of the learning that I had over the last few years as a practical class and recently a theoretical class too .... There were many things that the apostles did, but they had some basic stuff that they did every where and any where and this was though not a written law, it was like a "modus operandi" (way they work) ... cause they felt it was the best and they did it. Unlike many modus operandi we know of this was not so complicated.  They committed themselves to the teaching of the apostles, the life together, the common meal, and the prayers. (The Message) I am starting this from the other end of the spectrum. When the people met they ate. They broke bread (means they had communion) and share food. Just imagine this (said a pastor in Para Church, Thiruvalla)  one day this uncle here comes to your house and tells "hey, lets break bread and thank God for the life he has given
