simple lives

People have stories in their lives that make them want to live for another person. Stories in their past motivating them to do what the others ones did. Life is so precious that we do not realise that people around us, with us, and how much they influences us. Recently I spoke to two of my neighbours, one who recently lost his loved one and the other whose garden I was fascinated by. The gentleman, who lost his wife recently to liver cancer and old age, was telling me that he met her 55 years ago. This really inspired me and even showed me a sense of belief that love is not a one of thing, but it’s a packaged deal.

My other neighbour whose garden I like a lot was telling me the other day about her husband that she had lost a couple of years ago. She was telling me his passion for gardening, how much he spared his time for the little plants and flowers on the earth. She told how lovely the man was, and that she is planting and maintaining the garden for him. It was so lovely to hear how much people inspire the other with the few things they do in their life.  She glowed and smiled and said that he was a lovely person and that now she loves to do what he did as though he did it.

It always amazes me how simple lives, simple thoughts, the joy at being in ones company even though their not there, and despite all ordeals you still holding strong and smiling at the storm with the person you love. This made me think of our father's love for us. Many things in our lives from Waking up to the brightest sun and the clearest skies, to the smells of freshly cut grass, and the eases of mind just by the thought that our dad is with us through our time here. It’s so amazing how he is with us, at our highest and our lowest moments. At times, we miss our closest one, when their not around, or talking to us, you suddenly feel distant away from them, and I guess that’s how God feels about us, when we decide not to talk to him or even share ourselves to him, who craves for our attention, as a father craves attention from his children.

With all the chit chat I had with my neighbours made me think, relationship is never a one off thing. Even at old age, they just have the same passion for their loved ones as when they met them for the first time. Our relationship with our God is an amazing thing to go through, strangely I never realised how I missed dad so much, and yet with the distance I once had with God, he still received me back with open arms. It’s just wonderful how you suddenly feel at ease when you are comforted by God.

I was raised as a Christian, as my parents were Christians, but it was a roller coaster ride for me in turns of faith. Even though I knew god was there with me in my lives journey, it took me a while to understand this relationship. It was only until recent times that I felt a huge affection for God. Our family always had family prayers every night, where we sat down to read a portion in the bible, and then one of us would pray. This was more of a procedure to me than devotion. I just wanted to get to do whatever I did at the time than to sit down and pray. Recently my family went thought what I call a phase of faith, where my dad had a heart attack in the hospital. Everything that happened during this time was amazing. My dad is recovering quick, and all he has to say is praise God for the blessing he has showered on our family. For the first time in my life, I had never asked God, why this had happened to us, but was amazingly thankful to god for the second chance he gave all of us.

These days of my life, I realised that our relationship with God is much bigger than what we possibly can imagine or dream. It’s a glorious obsession to be with God. A relationship that you will never regret, but feel comforted even when a storm strikes you.  I realised something, knowing God and growing in him has made me trust in him, laying all things before him, knowing that he listens to you no matter what stage you are in your life. Things around you don’t matter at all if you’re with God; it’s just like your happy all the time, because you have nothing to be worried about as its all taken care by God. Praise you father, for everything you have done in my life and my family's. laying all things before him, knowing that he listens to you no matter what stage you are in your life. Things around you don’t matter at all if you’re with God; it’s just like your happy all the time, because you have nothing to be worried about as its all taken care by God. Praise you father, for everything you have done in my life and my family's. My relationship with God is the best thing I have and am going through in my entire life, because I know he holds me tight and never let go of me.

The Nativity - by Gari Melchers

This could be my first ever critique of art that I have ever written and that is because it is only recently art has captured my interest as much as this work. This write up is made both in English and German as I want to practice my German.  'The Nativity' by Gari Melchers.  I am not an art expert and my critique is from a layman's point of view, but bear with me. I have tried reading some information about the art and the culture behind it and I have my two favourite blog posts about the same work and yes,  I have shamelessly copied some of their thoughts. Woebegone but Hopeful and other is by Lisa VO . Julius Garibaldi Melchers (August 11, 1860 – November 30, 1932) was an American artist. He was one of the leading American proponents of naturalism. The Ultimate Claim to Glory

During a recent worship service, a thought struck me while singing about giving glory to Jesus. I wondered if it would be appropriate to ask for glory or to claim it for oneself. This idea felt blasphemous, as it seemed to imply that one could steal or exceed God's glory. History is filled with examples of kings and rulers who sought such glory, only to end up as dust and bones. But then I realized that even Jesus, in his prayer to the Father, asked for glory: 'Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed' (John 17:5). How could Jesus, being fully God, ask for glory? The Chalcedonian and Nicene Creeds affirms the answer as said in the verse "He (Jesus), Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage, (Philippians 2:6)". They affirm that Jesus, though fully God, did not cling to his divine equality but humbled himself. He is the only one who truly des...
