Why and How to share the gospel

This is a small note on how to and why share the Gospel. Please be free to comment and add more details.

STORY
Imagine someone discovered the cure for cancer, and all they did was run into the cancer care ward and dance around. Someone may come and ask him why was he so joyful, but mostly people would be irritated that he was happy in a ward filled with people worried with life. Now what if he went only telling people but did not show the cure in his life or the evidence of the cure?

a gospel only in action lacks intelligibility and a message without action lacks credibility -

Scriptures: (WHY)

1. Matthew 26: 19 ,. John 1: 40 -42, Matthew 24:14, EPh 2: 4-5, Rom 5:8
2. People are watching your lives, so be an example
3. How did you get the gospel?  Romans 10:14
4. What is the gospel?
5. Spurgeon: “Evangelism is one beggar telling another where to get food”

Scriptures: (HOW)

1.Influence : You are the salt of the earth [Matthew 5:13] - Don’t Withdraw from the world but be an influence. Don’t attack anyone’s belief, but rather tell them why you believE, Respect other people’s Opinions and be careful on what you agree to.

2.Explain: Acts 17: 2-4, 1 Peter 5:13 -  Get the knowledge of who God is in your life, and then speak from the knowledge, Have the reason for the hope you have, ask your self, ask elders in church the tough questions - they love to be grilled.

3.Testimony: Tell why you believe, do not be discouraged when you cannot answer all questions posed. Let your words be filled with the hope you have, in christ. Let them know how your life was before and after Christ

4.Proclamation : John 1: 39, tell what Jesus did in your life not why they need gospel.  Let them realise that Jesus is not a religion to you but someone you love. Be mindful of their state of mind, do not say if you do not believe in jesus you will go to hell, especially when they lost someone.

5.Power: Realise that God works in hearts too, so be ok even if they do not care for you.

6.Pray : Before going to some one ask God to help you, and pray. When people who know you say “keep me in prayers”, offer to pray with them. Ask them if it is ok if you say a prayer with them as it is not easy to remember later.

Challenge:

Tell one of your friend’s about the gospel. How? talk it casually, let them know how Christ is part of your life and how the Church is relevant

Common Excuses :
I'm too busy, People might get hostile, My friends might not want to be my friends anymore, Everyone has already heard about Jesus, People have the right to believe whatever they want,I don't know how

The Nativity - by Gari Melchers

This could be my first ever critique of art that I have ever written and that is because it is only recently art has captured my interest as much as this work. This write up is made both in English and German as I want to practice my German.  'The Nativity' by Gari Melchers.  I am not an art expert and my critique is from a layman's point of view, but bear with me. I have tried reading some information about the art and the culture behind it and I have my two favourite blog posts about the same work and yes,  I have shamelessly copied some of their thoughts. Woebegone but Hopeful and other is by Lisa VO . Julius Garibaldi Melchers (August 11, 1860 – November 30, 1932) was an American artist. He was one of the leading American proponents of naturalism. He won a 1932 Gold medal from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.[1] - Wikipedia The Nativity is painted during the peak of realism movement - in a gritty and less idealised ma...

The Ultimate Claim to Glory

During a recent worship service, a thought struck me while singing about giving glory to Jesus. I wondered if it would be appropriate to ask for glory or to claim it for oneself. This idea felt blasphemous, as it seemed to imply that one could steal or exceed God's glory. History is filled with examples of kings and rulers who sought such glory, only to end up as dust and bones. But then I realized that even Jesus, in his prayer to the Father, asked for glory: 'Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed' (John 17:5). How could Jesus, being fully God, ask for glory? The Chalcedonian and Nicene Creeds affirms the answer as said in the verse "He (Jesus), Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage, (Philippians 2:6)". They affirm that Jesus, though fully God, did not cling to his divine equality but humbled himself. He is the only one who truly des...
