Renewed to Honor

Dies ist der dritte Teil der Lektionen aus 2 Könige 5. Die Ähnlichkeiten der drei interessierten Personen zeigen einige Dinge über unser Leben auf. An vorderster Front steht Naaman, ein Sünder, der Gnade verstehen und bereit sein muss, sich zu demütigen und Heilung zu empfangen. Dann gibt es das Sklavenmädchen, dessen Glaube an Gott sie dazu brachte, für das einzustehen, woran sie glaubte, selbst in einem feindlichen Land in Ketten, um die Botschaft über Gott zu verkünden. Hier ist die dritte Person. Gehasi. Gehasi war der Diener von Elisa. Er wird noch zwei weitere Male in der Bibel erwähnt. Beide Male im Bericht über die Frau von Schunem (2 Könige 4 und 2 Könige 8). Ich würde es unterlassen, Gehasi zu verurteilen, da wir ihn nach diesem Vorfall wieder sehen, obwohl es wahrscheinlich ist, dass die Ereignisse nicht in chronologischer Reihenfolge aufgezeichnet sind. This section of the story in 2 Kings chapter 5 focuses on Naaman. We know that Naaman was the commander in chief of the armies of Syria and possibly the right hand man as he was incharge of strategic, political and warfare and security. This was a very prestigious role that Naaman had earned. Some Jewish Rabbis say that his ruthlessness and his power resulted in God punishing Naaman with Tzaraat which is translated as Leprosy. For the sake of these notes, I would consider the word Leprosy.  Naaman was powerful and wise. In fact, it was God who had blessed him from the start. The verse says that Naaman was a powerful and influential man valued by the king greatly. His victory was a gift from God to Aram. Why would God bless a foreign nation to attack the Israelites?   Die Sklavin ist die erste Person, auf die wir stoßen. Hier beginnt das ganze Kapitel und die Geschichte. Das Mädchen, das eine Sklavin war, arbeitete für die Frau von Naaman. Sie war eine Gefangene (eine Gruppe aramäischer Räuber hatte sie gefangen genommen - möglicherweise das gesamte Dorf getötet) und die meisten ihrer Familie waren entweder getötet oder gefangen genommen und versklavt im ganzen Land Syrien. Sie hatte alles verloren. Ihre Geschichte im Neuen Testament zu lesen, hat den größten Einfluss auf unser spirituelles Leben. Wir könnten sagen, dass sie nie ihr volles Potenzial oder ihre Berufung erreichen würde. Aber sie erinnerte sich an etwas, das die meisten jüdischen Kinder in diesem Alter und wir uns erinnern sollten. Wir sind nicht zu einer Aufgabe oder einem Beruf berufen, sondern zu einem Gott. Das bedeutete, dass sie ihr Leben riskierte, als sie ihre Stimme erheben musste. Sklaven haben im Allgemeinen keine Stimme. Man fragt sie nicht nach ihrer Meinung. Aber tief i

 This is the first person we come to. This is where the whole chapter and the story begins. The girl who was a slave was working for the wife of Naaman. She was a prisoner (a band of aramite raiders had captured her - possibly killing the entire village) with most of her family either killed or held captive and enslaved across the land of Syria. She had lost everything. Reading her story from the new testament makes the most impact on our spiritual life. We could say that she was never going to reach her full potential or her calling. But she remembered one thing which most Jewish children of that age and we should remember. We are not called to a task or a profession but rather to a God. This meant that she risked her life when she had to raise her voice. Slaves in general do not have a voice. They are not asked for their opinion. But deep within, maybe because she was treated well, I believe there is a working of the Holy Spirit in this girl that moves her to care and love her enemie

  This is a multi part sermon note from 2 Kings 5. There are at least four people here in this Bible chapter and though a character study is needed, the main point is to examine oneself with the same premise and see how the Gospel of Jesus relates to the main issues in this portion. The Bible is meant to show us both an issue and provide an answer to it and the hope of the answer is found in the life of Jesus. Background Firstly, let us look at the background of the story. There are some key understandings that i have moved from the below passages to here to help the reader understand though they may only provide some information to the points I wish to captivate your attention to. There had been a number of attacks by Syria ( also known as Aram - this means i would use Syria and Aram interchangeably in these notes) during the reign of Hadadezer ( King of Aram 865 - 642 BC) and Jehoram ( King of Israel 849–842 BC). In a time when water was primarily obtained through dew rather than rainfall, Noah's endeavor of constructing an ark for over half a century is remarkable. The ark itself differed from conventional boats; instead of being streamlined for navigation, it was likely rectangular in shape, designed solely to float and withstand the floodwaters.
