Really Messed up

Some times lief life can be really messed up. Things may not happen the way we wanted them to happen. Plans gets foiled and truth seems like a mirage. I have been through this situations many times and sometimes these situations crib us and pull us down. I have questioned God and existence of God many times and at these times I have doubted him more. The pattern changed as I grew up in the Lord and lesser did I say that there was no one for me. The truth at these times was simple. It was not God punishing me or karma or bad karma. Its just a situation that was meant to happen and my reaction in these times should have been to wait on the Lord.

I guess the above phrase is little odd, and yes its a bit bewildering too. But let me site some examples so things stay clear. I pray that you get your mind clear on this. Lets start with the biggest guy on earth when we think of chain of misfortunes. ya, Job. Job, ( as in the bible ) was the richest guy around. He had a few Rolls Royce, many many Porsche's, seven sons who looked like Brad Pitt, three girls who made Jennifer Lopez run back to the mirror and all he could ask for. This guy was not an unbeliever, he so well believed and thanked God, that his name was equable to T D Jakes and he had both diamonds and pearls and God was also pleased with him, that God witnessed him. Cool right. I have always thought that God wanted to test Job and gave him all misery but that was not so. Devil pulled his leg. How did the devil know Job would fall bad ? I never knew, till I was read this by my Pastor.

Job 3: 24-26 "Instead of bread I get groans for my supper,
then leave the table and vomit my anguish.
The worst of my fears has come true,
what I've dreaded most has happened.

My repose (trust) is shattered, my peace destroyed.
No rest for me, ever—death has invaded life."(The Message)

What was that? Did Job feared that he would wake up one day and feel lonely, lost, sick, hurt? Yes, Job though he trusted in God, was not confident in the Lord. He knew God would bless him, but he never really believed God would sustain him!

Don't we fear that one day we would wake up and find that our bed is in the street ?? So, what we do when these thoughts come is we turn around in our bed and sleep saying " stupid thought". This is the time we got to consider, really put down our foot to this thought. How much is our repose in God?

There is bumper sticker that says Poop happens. And with life there is ups and downs, that has nothing to do with the existence of God, but everything with your and my existence. The bible says in Romans 8, a chapter that I read over 50 times till date, the following.

I'm absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God's love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us. (The Message)

Let nothing get between us and the God we know. He has done a lot of stuff for us. God and his rules are absolute, but his love is more abundant. He was tired of mankind, but he chose to save Noah, God was upset with Sodom, but he took Lot for Abraham's sake.

In the same manner, he is interested in providing a way out for you, a way out of the mess you caused in the first place. Like one of the kids I know, I had asked him not to call up his ex-girlfriend because I cared for his hurting. But he did and sat crying the whole next day. Sometimes we go crazy and stupid and make mistakes. Like Dante said  " To err is human ". And we mess up many times, sometimes we escape, sometimes we pay the penalty. But God is there like your seat-belt to make sure that you are not hurt. The thing we have to realize is to be thankful for the seat-belt. The car may be wrecked, but we have emerged out with whole bones.

One of my friends Jacob, is a biker, a real biker. He races and goes on long bike trips and on one such trip he slipped and fell under a lorry (truck). He immediately got up and stood away, the bike was a meter under the truck. The local people hurried to help, they thought that the rider was under the truck and was stuck. They asked him where the rider was, and he was laughing out his miracle. Now the bike suffered many damages, but Jacob was only scratched.

Think of his story, think of your experience, the memories may be painful both financially and bodily, but you are still beautiful and you are still alive and breathing. This is what the prophet Habakkuk said, he was a farmer ...

 3:16-19
I heard the news and my whole inner self trembled; my lips quivered at the sound. Rottenness enters into my bones and under me [down to my feet]; I tremble (I felt like I was dead and was decaying)....
17Though the fig tree does not blossom and there is no fruit on the vines, though the product of the olive fails and the fields yield no food, though the flock is cut off from the fold and there are no cattle in the stalls,
18Yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will exult (dance) in the [victorious] God of my salvation!
    19The Lord God is my Strength, my personal bravery, and my invincible army;

He makes my feet like hinds' feet and will make me to walk [not to stand still in terror, but to walk] and make [spiritual] progress upon my high places [of trouble, suffering, or responsibility]!

My sister was reading this portion recently and asked me what was so great about a deer's feet, here is a foot print. The deer climbs hills and cam prance crazily on sharp inclinations and grow it young on steep hills. Having this feet is like having a a shoe with locks that would not let your feet slip at sharp angles.

MAY YOUR FEET AND HEART STAY FIRM

The Nativity - by Gari Melchers

This could be my first ever critique of art that I have ever written and that is because it is only recently art has captured my interest as much as this work. This write up is made both in English and German as I want to practice my German.  'The Nativity' by Gari Melchers.  I am not an art expert and my critique is from a layman's point of view, but bear with me. I have tried reading some information about the art and the culture behind it and I have my two favourite blog posts about the same work and yes,  I have shamelessly copied some of their thoughts. Woebegone but Hopeful and other is by Lisa VO . Julius Garibaldi Melchers (August 11, 1860 – November 30, 1932) was an American artist. He was one of the leading American proponents of naturalism. He won a 1932 Gold medal from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.[1] - Wikipedia The Nativity is painted during the peak of realism movement - in a gritty and less idealised manner . For m

2 Kings 5 | Part 2 | Naaman and the Offense of the cross

This section of the story in 2 Kings chapter 5 focuses on Naaman. We know that Naaman was the commander in chief of the armies of Syria and possibly the right hand man as he was incharge of strategic, political and warfare and security. This was a very prestigious role that Naaman had earned. Some Jewish Rabbis say that his ruthlessness and his power resulted in God punishing Naaman with Tzaraat which is translated as Leprosy. For the sake of these notes, I would consider the word Leprosy.  Naaman was powerful and wise. In fact, it was God who had blessed him from the start. The verse says that Naaman was a powerful and influential man valued by the king greatly. His victory was a gift from God to Aram. Why would God bless a foreign nation to attack the Israelites? In Deuteronomy chapter 28, Moses tells the people that God would make the enemies of Israel punish the people of God if they are disobedient. Jehoram, the then king of Israel was the son of Ahab. Ahab and his wife Jezebel le

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who are elect exiles of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, 2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood: Preface: Why are we looking through this book? Unlike the letter of James, this book is written to a Jewish / Gentile Christians who are scattered across various provinces that are outside their ideal world. In the last two weeks we have been looking at what it means to live as people who love God. Today and the weeks to follow, we will look at how this is meant to be worked out as people living among other nations. Written by Silvanus (he is the typist) - probably Silas along with Mark From "babylon" .. well babylon did not exist in that time as an important place. It was a code, a code for what Babylon stood for. Enmity to God - Where was the enemy? in Rome - Who was the enemy -  Introduc
