The dinner that counts

I recently had a good dinner and this was my view. One of the thing that my Church's small group has been involved in is the Supper Clubs  and mostly all of us in some way have hosted a supper club or been a part of one, served in this culture building venture in some manner - including the Big Supper Club as in the link above.  I recently have been pondering on the thoughts of hosting a supper club, but I am not so sure nor do feel well equipped to host a meal. It is not that I am a bad host or a bad cook, I can cook to live and BBQ, and I thing that would do me good in the long run - but the idea of setting table and getting things arranged often puts me in a 'hard place'. I would love to one day set the table, but I am sure that it would have to take a lot of persuasion. But, the idea of talking to absolute strangers and learning life from a different perspective still appeals me. One of the ideas I am thinking of getting to do a 'different' type of sup...

Meeting Us Here

Let our words be few that our hearts be exposed to you, Let your presence among us take presidency that your thoughts are then palpable, Let our whispers break forth into adoration that you remain pre-eminent in our worship, Let our assiduity in you fathom your love that your resplendence transcends our eyes. Then will your light emanate casting away shadows far from us, Transfigured we then would be, dressed in heavenly veil before the groom.

Ian and Larissa - a few years later

It has been a couple of years since the video appeared on John Piper's blog  Desiring God  about Ian and Larissa. To those of you who don't know what it is about, I have embedded the original video on this page so that you could enjoy. Ever since I knew about these sacrificial couple, my heart melted for them and for over an year I had followed them on their  blog  on their journey praying for Ian Murphy to get well and watching how his beautiful wife Larissa partners with him. It was their story that made me even recommend the book (  This momentary marriage  available as free pdf) which by the way is brilliantly written by Dr. John Piper. So, recently this couple have been making news again and here is why. We love them and love what God is doing through them . Ian has come a long way in recovery and could make brilliant steps. It's his love for his bride that made her get through the hard work she did to his recovery. In Larissa's word...

Auto tuned

Ever since the death of Robin Williams, I have been wrestling with myself, on the mystery of thoughts that cause self harm.  It was a few days later after his death I had come across this information which Robin calls " little quiet voice ". In the video below, is an interview in which Robin Williams talks about relapsing from addiction.   Video: Robin Williams on Relapsing: 'There's a Little Quiet Voice That Goes "Jump"' In the above video, Robin Williams says about the voice that tells alcoholics to take a tiny sip or a person suffering suicidal thoughts to end life.  The truth is that, I am no stranger to these thoughts.  When I knew about Robin Williams, I had posted this on Facebook and looking back at it, I wonder about the seriousness of the matter.  There are few challenges that comes to the mind of some of us when we learn about Robin Williams suicide, Robin was able to do what we didn't have the co...

Be the centre [Hymn]

Be The Centre [Hymn] Subin Abraham Mathew This is a new hymn that I have written asking God to take charge of my life and be the centre of my decisions. Be the centre of my life, When all things fade away; Be the centre of my life, When all glories reign. O, Be the centre of my life, In everyday, I find hard to say; Be the living source of life, For all and all each day. O, Be my everlasting song, Be my ever glorious one; Be thou, my ever risen sun, Be my Lord and my God. Be now, for ever and ever, My living hope in whom I seek; When all fades away let mine eyes, Be found resting on your face. Send the greater comforter now, Let Him take me to a higher rock; Set my soul to rest in your grace, Lord be the centre of my life.  Audio

Tetris, Freezer and Church

I am sure that I am not the only one who here knows what Tetris is. For those of you born in the age of candy crush saga and PS4 , you may not be reading this, and those who are between these ages , be honest, Tetris probably had been your first game, or a game in your first digital toy. This article is a tribute to the game Tetris because it can solve a lot of issues. Here is the first kind. Space management: Tetris is a tile matching game but more importantly it is also a shape matching game. For the sake of those who do not just remember it, here is how it is. You have to place blocks of same colour and suiting shapes to finish the never ending puzzle. For example the is a "T" shaped block and it will not match with an "L" shaped block. But together they could accommodate a "Square" block.  I never found this task useful till recent when we brought a freezer at home. Our fridge had run over with items we had brought on bulk from Costco. The f...

Of tribes and tounges

Note: This is a personal opinion only. -------------------- In the past many churches joined together and formed the nicene creed and since then Christianity showed some form of uniqueness and common understanding of what a Christian believe.  In short , a monotheistic religion that belives in a triune God , and Christ as the meditator between men and God because of the redemption of sins through the cross and the regeneration of life by the help of the Holy Spirit. But like all big families when they have sons that carry on the family name there are then multiple families.  Look at the instance the tribes of Jacob, 12 in all, are they all not Abraham ' s children?  Yes, yet amongst them they had so much difference.  Look at the tribe of Benjamin, they  are said to like a ravenous wolf [ Genesis 49:27 ] , quite seen in the life of King Saul, Queen Esther, Paul the apostle or the tribe of Judah,  where men like David and Solomon are. Now , in all this mann...
