Come and See

Come and See! I never thought I would hear these words again. But my 2-year-old son just said that. I felt a rush of memories in my head. I followed my son to his playroom / our living room. In it he had arranged his toy cars in a perfect line and wanted me to see them. He obviously did not know the deep meaning that his three words brought to my memories. Three words that transformed me. Come and See. That was all that took for God to shake my life and as I study the Bible, I realize that I am not the first one whose life had been changed. ( John 1: 35-40 ) .

It was in 2008 when someone told me the same. A brother in Christ had said that same sentence. I was on the phone with him, and asked him the following question in some manner "how do I know Jesus" and he just said those 3 words and my world was shaken. I followed what he said and took my motorbike and went to the place that he instructed me. There were about 15 people in all, 5 of them well known to me, the rest strangers, all standing with their hands held high and worshipping the Lord. I had never seen such worship ever in my life, they worshipped behind closed doors where the world could not see them, they raised their voices not because someone was judging them, but because they wanted to. They prayed because they loved to talk to God and adore him. Their prayer was not felt needs or issues or health but rather praise and adoration, just that, each brother and sister encouraging each other by stating how Holy God was. This for me was new. I had never seen such worship. There was a new delight in my heart. I felt true and felt encouraged to pray just like I wanted to. This want in my heart was new and I had never had that feeling before, I was surprised that this feeling was true and there were people who loved to worship and praise (as I now know what it) God.

When Jesus calls His first disciples, it was Andrew and another disciple who asked Jesus where He lived at. The answer that Jesus told was "Come and See". These two disciples heard and followed him and stayed the day with him. Then, they called more and they followed him to their deaths. But, it was not the miracles of Jesus or fancy logical statements that had drawn them, it was just the there simple words " Ἔρχεσθε (Erchestheκαὶ (kaiὄψεσθε (opsesthe)". These 3 words, whether in English, Greek or Aramaic, hold more meaning. When my two year old called me, he did not just want me to look at the cars, but he wanted to show me his work, he wanted to me to say that I was proud of him and experience his joy with him. As I pondered on my life and then on Andrew's, we realize that Jesus did not want to show Andrew and the other disciple His house but rather change their lives by showing them something new to experience.

This is where Jesus calls us to, to experience him, to a place where He changes our life. He calls us to come to Him and see that He is not just Good, but that He is God and King. This is the easiest evangelism.

Come and see, those who are heavy laden, come and see the King and Saviour you wanted to see, come, and see, indulge, experience and delight yourself in this King.

Jesus Calls the First Disciples

35 The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples, 36 and he looked at Jesus as he walked by and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!” 37 The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. 38 Jesus turned and saw them following and said to them, “What are you seeking?” And they said to him, “Rabbi” (which means Teacher), “where are you staying?” 39 He said to them, “Come and you will see.” So they came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day, for it was about the tenth hour.[g] 40 One of the two who heard John speak and followed Jesus[h] was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother - John 1: 35-40

The Nativity - by Gari Melchers

This could be my first ever critique of art that I have ever written and that is because it is only recently art has captured my interest as much as this work. This write up is made both in English and German as I want to practice my German.  'The Nativity' by Gari Melchers.  I am not an art expert and my critique is from a layman's point of view, but bear with me. I have tried reading some information about the art and the culture behind it and I have my two favourite blog posts about the same work and yes,  I have shamelessly copied some of their thoughts. Woebegone but Hopeful and other is by Lisa VO . Julius Garibaldi Melchers (August 11, 1860 – November 30, 1932) was an American artist. He was one of the leading American proponents of naturalism. He won a 1932 Gold medal from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.[1] - Wikipedia The Nativity is painted during the peak of realism movement - in a gritty and less idealised manner . For m

Testimonies

This is an extract from a mail I had written to my friends and I wish that most of you my readers would get this message too. I want to tell you about a few testimonies that changed my perception of testimonies. Most of you may have heard me say this many times, but then since its that good, I wish your Christmas memories could include this one too.  The first story occurs in a little village of pullad. Now that is in Kerala, and for those who do not know where it is, the place is near kumbanad, and around 15 Kms from Chengannur/ Thiruvalla and some where in the mid point between ernakulam and trivandrum .  SEE IT ON MAP I HAD WRITTEN THE STORY IN A BETTER FORMAT OVER AN YEAR AGO. SEE TOTALLY SIMPLE FAITH.  It is a village more than a town , with rubber trees, bugs and the sweet sound of rain in the woody and leafy region, so it cooler and humid than most other parts of kerala. So, i was here, in a prayer meeting run by a pentecostal group called the hallelujah prayer fellowship

Spirit of the Lord and his Standards

The chapter Isaiah 59 is a very meaningful chapter. The chapter begins with the prophet telling us that God has not run away from us or nor is he hiding that our tears cannot be seen or our cries cannot be heard. But when we went away from God, we were also neglected justice by others and God saw that his children were oppressed and were denied justice and as it is said in in Isaiah 59:15(b) . This is our God. Although we are sinners he says and that there were no one who could stand for you as mediators , God would bring you the salvation. The Lord is at my right hand, he is there to protect me, but let me tell you that God is also there to guard you from sinning. The verse Isaiah 59:19 , is the most important verse that we should remember when we are tempted. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him and put him to flight*. Isaiah 59:19 What does this verse mean to you? This is what I have understood and I follow. You
