Spirit of the Lord and his Standards

The chapter Isaiah 59 is a very meaningful chapter. The chapter begins with the prophet telling us that God has not run away from us or nor is he hiding that our tears cannot be seen or our cries cannot be heard. But when we went away from God, we were also neglected justice by others and God saw that his children were oppressed and were denied justice and as it is said in in Isaiah 59:15(b) . This is our God. Although we are sinners he says and that there were no one who could stand for you as mediators , God would bring you the salvation.

The Lord is at my right hand, he is there to protect me, but let me tell you that God is also there to guard you from sinning. The verse Isaiah 59:19 , is the most important verse that we should remember when we are tempted.

When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him and put him to flight*. Isaiah 59:19

What does this verse mean to you? This is what I have understood and I follow. You see, for the case of not putting out dark secrets out on the web, let's consider a situation where we have a small girl of 12 years old who wants a candy. The price of the candy is $1.50 or 1.50 or £ 1.50. and she is .50 amounts short. This in other circumstances like hurting some one or being tempted to watch a bad film is that we are pushed to a corner. No one is a bad person, but when we are pushed into tight corners we bring about all sorts of nonsense. Now, this girl has two options, either come back another day with enough change or steal the chocolate. This is where the enemy is like an over whelming flood. Falling on us so much hard that we cannot bear. My dear friends, you are not alone, I am not alone, but even Jesus had been pushed to this tight spot and the flood nearly over took him. This is where we should stand our grounds and believe in what we have heard.

When the enemy comes like this huge pressure and burden, falling over us that we would soon be smithereens , faith tells us this, ask of the Lord, and his Spirit would lift a standard against him and put him to flight. Do you get the meaning ? It means, when we ask God for help, his Holy Spirit would lift up a huge bolder against that the enemy , or persecutions or troubles, our temptations and make them run away. The little girl stood there with the chocolate, looking very earnestly wanting it, but not having the money to buy it. she said "God, I want this". The Spirit of the Lord calmed her mind of the temptation to steal the chocolate. She kept it back on the shelf. Then as she was about to leave the store, he dad walked in, He saw the chocolate she liked and got her two.

You see, faith is not pushing ourselves harder, but learning to trust God to bring us through. Although we are weak, Our Redeemer is strong.

[* Some times it is same verse is read like this, when the enemy shall come in - like a flood the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him and put him to flight. It means the same thing my friend, no matter how the enemy shall come, like a film, or a chocolate or a flood or a man or a woman, if we ask God, God would bring to our enemies Godly standards. Oh, this is something that the enemy is scared of, for although your standards are way below the standards of the enemy, God's is much more than that]

The Nativity - by Gari Melchers

This could be my first ever critique of art that I have ever written and that is because it is only recently art has captured my interest as much as this work. This write up is made both in English and German as I want to practice my German.  'The Nativity' by Gari Melchers.  I am not an art expert and my critique is from a layman's point of view, but bear with me. I have tried reading some information about the art and the culture behind it and I have my two favourite blog posts about the same work and yes,  I have shamelessly copied some of their thoughts. 2 Kings 5 | Part 2 | Naaman and the Offense of the cross

This section of the story in 2 Kings chapter 5 focuses on Naaman. We know that Naaman was the commander in chief of the armies of Syria and possibly the right hand man as he was incharge of strategic, political and warfare and security. This was a very prestigious role that Naaman had earned. Some Jewish Rabbis say that his ruthlessness and his power resulted in God punishing Naaman with Tzaraat which is translated as Leprosy. For the sake of these notes, I would consider the word Leprosy.  Naaman was powerful and wise. In fact, it was God who had blessed him from the start. The verse says that Naaman was a powerful and influential man valued by the king greatly. His victory was a gift from God to Aram. Why would God bless a foreign nation to attack the Israelites? In Deuteronomy chapter 28, Moses tells the people that God would make the enemies of Israel punish the people of God if they are disobedient. Jehoram, the then king of Israel was the son of Ahab. Ahab and his wife Jezebel le

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who are elect exiles of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, 2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood: Preface: Why are we looking through this book? Unlike the letter of James, this book is written to a Jewish / Gentile Christians who are scattered across various provinces that are outside their ideal world. In the last two weeks we have been looking at what it means to live as people who love God. Today and the weeks to follow, we will look at how this is meant to be worked out as people living among other nations.
