Child sex robots.

I stared at this picture for so long. Something did not quite make sense. This was no longer artificial intelligence made in the image of man, but rather a purposeful machine made to cater some impulses. There are many blogs , I would guess that would list the good and bad aspects of such a creation. I am rather shocked. It has not been too long since we heard of Sweetie.

The idea of robots as companion has always fascinated me. I had a toy robot when I was a boy, later when I learned to design bots, I had considered the conditions of artificial intelligence seriously. Back in 2008, there were some experimental robots who were fitted with female upper body and I knew then that one day sex bots would be norm, but always had faith in the robotic community that they would grow out of their boyish nature and would create better products.

When Sweetie was released, I wondered how many hours of animation had been wasted on trying to perfect a human child. Bear with me here, I have friends who are in animation and to create human body with flawless perfection is a hard task, especially one that has to interact based on emotions. The hard part for the team at Terre des Hommes would have been to create a naked child. They had to be convincing enough to compulsive pedophiles that this was a real girl. This is hard, but they managed it. What they did was determine 1000 offenders and compile a report. We are not sure what happened to the report nor are we sure what happened to the software. Could a child porno be made from them? I cannot answer.

Few week ago I came to know of this robot. If you were to take a look at it's face you would realize that it looks vulnerable. This sends a shiver down my spine. This is how a child would look if suddenly exposed to the sort of nudity or have been taken advantage of. One day, I will be able to talk freely of sexual abuse, but this is not that day. This is the day I want to tell the international community that this is a bad idea. There are few bloggers who spoke against this idea. Eve Vawter , a blogger for Mommish writes the following.

I agree that protecting children is worthwhile, and if there was some sort of promise that any predator who had a child robot would no longer prey on actual children I could get behind it, but I don’t think that will happen.
I agree with Eve. Pedophilia must be stopped by active treatment and rehabilitation not passive stress relief mechanisms.

Last week Microsoft released a face recognition web application and because I was curious I put a lot of pictures onto this website and tested. Most of the ages were appropriate over various races. So, I decided to feed in the robot. AGE 5 - FEMALE. I believe that the AI society believes that having 5 year old girl -like looking robots are very efficient to stop and please the craving of a 40 year old man. Child pornography and child abuse are very much related. Some time back in Canada a man was stopped from importing a small sex doll dressed in a school girl's uniform.

What shall we do about this? I am unsure, as of yet this is still in developmental stage in a warehouse somewhere. But, in my opinion, teasng someone with the possibility of sex with a robot would only crave them to test it out on a real five , seven, ten or seventeen or twenty five year old who has no idea how to stop an abuser or how to say no.

The Nativity - by Gari Melchers

This could be my first ever critique of art that I have ever written and that is because it is only recently art has captured my interest as much as this work. This write up is made both in English and German as I want to practice my German.  'The Nativity' by Gari Melchers.  I am not an art expert and my critique is from a layman's point of view, but bear with me. I have tried reading some information about the art and the culture behind it and I have my two favourite blog posts about the same work and yes,  I have shamelessly copied some of their thoughts. Woebegone but Hopeful and other is by Lisa VO . Julius Garibaldi Melchers (August 11, 1860 – November 30, 1932) was an American artist. He was one of the leading American proponents of naturalism. He won a 1932 Gold medal from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.[1] - Wikipedia The Nativity is painted during the peak of realism movement - in a gritty and less idealised ma...

The Ultimate Claim to Glory

During a recent worship service, a thought struck me while singing about giving glory to Jesus. I wondered if it would be appropriate to ask for glory or to claim it for oneself. This idea felt blasphemous, as it seemed to imply that one could steal or exceed God's glory. History is filled with examples of kings and rulers who sought such glory, only to end up as dust and bones. But then I realized that even Jesus, in his prayer to the Father, asked for glory: 'Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed' (John 17:5). How could Jesus, being fully God, ask for glory? The Chalcedonian and Nicene Creeds affirms the answer as said in the verse "He (Jesus), Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage, (Philippians 2:6)". They affirm that Jesus, though fully God, did not cling to his divine equality but humbled himself. He is the only one who truly des...
