I did a comparisons of web browsers that i had, and no i did not use windows nor test IE or the Internet Explorer 7, 6 or anything. of that kind. I used a Linux based system called Open-Suse11.4 which i had installed in and as i told you in the Finally post, this is basically Christian blog, but i cannot keep God away from other parts of my life and if i have to allow God into my life i should not divide my self and my passions not God centric and I centric because the bible says I am the place where God's Spirit finds rest and stays as in (1 Cor 3:16). So please read the post Finally which i wrote 25/2/2010 from my friends company the Spoken English Cafe.
And yes, this post is filled with hyper links and pictures and so enjoy reading, and a sincere apology to those who use mobile to read the blog post as this is HEAVY.
OS: Open Suse with Linux Kernel 2.6.37.1-1.2-desktop
Firefox: 4.0 Beta 12
Chrome: 11.0.696.71
PC: 512 Mb Ram ( ya it sucks ... one of the many reasons to use Linux over Windows)
Test 1: Dumb Test
This test involved me setting on Firefox (click here to download Free Firefox ) with the stupidest website on earth www.msn.com ... yup msn is stupid in my sight, and Google Chrome (click here to download Free Google Chrome) with the same website from basic start-up and here are the results.
Firefox took 25 sec to load MSN fully with the irritating pop up.
Google Chrome took 20 sec to load MSN fully with the irritating pop up.
Test 2: Acid3 Test for Java Rendering by Acid Test.org
Firefox Gave 96% on the test
Google Chrome Gave a 100% on the test. However both browsers went slow on 68%
Test 3: Peace Keeper Browser Benchmark test by Future Mark.com
Result |

Here is a small description of the website by the Developers.

Rendering
These tests measure your browser's ability to render and modify specific elements used in typical web pages. Like frames, javascript etc. The tests measure display updating speed (frames per seconds).
Social networking
Social networking sites use JavaScript to provide navigation, forms and other features. These tests measure typical webpage functions, such as loading, sorting and searching for data. The purpose of these tests is to show the relation between the tests and real life. Performance in these tests is measured in frames per seconds.
Data
Almost everything you see on a dynamic webpage uses JavaScript arrays. These tests measure your browser's ability to add, remove and modify data stored in an array.
DOM operations
DOM, or Document Object Model, is the standard API JavaScript uses to create dynamic webpages. These tests emulate the methods used to create typical dynamic webpages. The DOM tests are based on development experience and the capabilities of the jQuery framework
Text parsing
These tests measure your browser's performance in typical text manipulations such as using a profanity filter for chats, browser detection and form validation.
And Though Complex Graphics was not included, Chrome even beat Firefox in that field too. Now you see according to "Peace Keeper Browser Test Site" Quote - Unquote
Complex graphics
These tests use 'Canvas', a new web technology for drawing and manipulating graphics without external plug-ins.
Canvas Rendering |
You see like in modern browsers that use HTML version , for those who did not know we use partially version 4 and 5, the Canvas is a added version from Apple, then later adopted by various companies and finally accepted as a web page graphic method, which instead of simply loading pictures, adds effect of 2D imaging. The flight simulation was actually a picture and not a Flash file in the picture. But it moved and acted as if it was a flash movie.
Test 4: Closing Test
Like most off you, i would also close the browser after i read it or fall asleep on it. And here are the results.
Creator of Logo |
Firefox took 3 sec to close with one tab.
Google Chrome took 2 sec to close with one tab.
Eventually, Google Chrome was the winner. Take a bow you big round ball.
You can take these results with absolutely no guarantee. This is simple test, done on a very unstable computer by me and they may vary in perfect laboratory conditions. But again, who the heck is going to use a computer the way it is build.
